Greetings!
We have a hosted win2008 server (SP2) setup as our web server. Aside from a few public sites, most activity that takes place on the server is for client 'extranet' type sites. (posting project materials and deliverables, test versions of web projects, etc).
The way we have things configured is loosely described below. If a client accesses thier project site using IE, they can login fine. If access to the site is done via Chrome or Safari (including iPad), login works initially, but the browser continues to present the user with the login credentials prompt.
We currently have things setup in the following way:
'Site Name' within 'SITES'
- virtual directories within Site Name
Authentication is currently setup using basic authentication (anonymous auth is disabled, forms auth is disabled, and windows auth doesn't even appear as an option).
- the virtual directlory is given access to the appropriate folder structure
- a Windows user account is added to the Auth Rules for the virtual directory site
The approach being described here is been problem free, with the exception of the browser / login credentials prompt issue. However, if there is a better way to setup things, we are open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!
